Schedule:
This is a full time position working 40 hours a week. All library Administrative Office staff may be required to work evenings, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year as a part of the normal work schedule.

Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Digital Equity & Virtual Services Coordinator, the Technology Support Specialist will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of library technology and successful implementation of technology and digital equity initiatives for the library system. Assists in all aspects of these programs and platforms, including managing new and existing technology platforms and hardware, and fixing both processes and physical objects when they are not functioning properly. The Technology Support Specialist will provide direct customer support, primarily to internal customers (i.e. staff) as it related to requests for equipment from IT, support for their existing equipment, all technology provided by DEVS to branches and departments (e.g. 3D printers and VR equipment, iPads, laptops, and kiosks), this would include the education and general staff training on software and hardware utilized across the BCPL system
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers; including people of diverse backgrounds and abilities, in line with the library's customer service philosophy, to end technical support
  • Collaborates with Baltimore County Office of Information Technology under the direction of the DEVS Manager and Coordinator to address technology issues and help implement technology projects throughout the library system
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and supports technology equipment at various locations, such as laptops, tablets, 3D printers, virtual reality equipment, soldering stations, etc., and related software
  • Administers and distributes technology systems and equipment used to manage, track and secure library technology assets
  • Provide solutions and consultation to internal and external customers on traditional and emerging technology to include exploring and researching creative wats to implement and improve upon various technology uses in the library
  • Plans, develops, prepares, and presents technology training for library staff and customers, both individually and in groups
  • Provides support with office tasks as needed in the Digital Equity & Virtual Services department
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have an Associate's degree minimum of five (5) years of experience of Bachelor's degree and minimum of three (3) years experience
  • Two (2) years experience of demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and fixing delicate electronics
  • Related degree should be in Library and Information Science, Education, Technology, Engineering, or similar field
  • Must be able to maintain and repair a wide array of technology gear and learn new platforms quickly
  • Must have a driver's license
  • Must be proficient in the use of contemporary and collaborative office software such as Office 365, Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox, Box, Slack or similar, including the implementation of such systems in an enterprise environment

Preferred Requirements (At leas one of the following):

  • Microsoft365 Certification or similar
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (PowerAutomate, Flow, etc)
  • Experience with system administration or database administration
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
