Schedule:

This is a full time position working 40 hours a week. All library facilities staff may be required to work evening, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year as a part of the normal work schedule.


Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Operations Support Manager drives library vehicles to deliver a variety of materials to branches and other specified locations. Performs basic maintenance tasks and assists with mail distribution and the boxing of materials

  • Drives a delivery truck and performs duties related to sorting, loading, and unloading materials
  • Assists with sorting materials from delivery and with processing mail
  • When needed performs basic maintenance duties such as minor repairs, basic installation of shelving and furniture, and keeping clean, attractive and safe library buildings and premises
  • Demonstrates respect and a commitment to quality when providing service to internal and external customers
  • Serves as valuable team member by performing duties effectively and efficiently
  • Must be able to meet scheduling requirements by arriving to work on time and staying until the end of one's shift
  • Must be able to be flexible with one's work schedule to meet unexpected operational requirements
  • Follows safety practices when operating library vehicles, performing physical tasks, and using work tools
  • Must be able to meet scheduling requirements by arriving to work on time and staying until the end of one's shift
  • Must be able to work weekdays, evenings and weekends and be flexible with one's work schedule to meet daily operational requirement
  • Must have access to transportation, as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position at other branch locations or offsite
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency.
  • One (1) year in a warehouse or loading dock environment
  • Experience driving a 3/4 ton step van and general maintenance knowledge preferred
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to lift and carry objects/materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and to push, pull, tilt, and move items weighing up to 185 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch and stretch when performing work related tasks.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and to climb in and out of a 3/4 ton van.
  • Ability to sit and operate a vehicle for up to two hours at a time.
  • Ability to read small print

We have a 14 step pay scale. Internal applicants starting pay varies based on their current step on the salary scale. We also offer, as appropriate, overtime pay, comp. time, and differential pay.
