Sr. Training and Organizational Development Specialist

Schedule:
This is a full time position working 40 hours a week.  All library administrative staff may be required to work evenings, Saturday, and Sundays throughout the year as part of the normal work schedule.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director uses various methods to gather and analyze data on training needs, skill gaps and learning opportunities. Designs, implements, delivers and evaluates, through a variety of training methods, programs focuses on multiple subject matters including professional development, team building, technical skills and change management that foster a culture of continuous improvement and development.  Tracks and assures compliance with required staff certifications.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements training programs
  • Designs and delivers training programs focused on leadership, professional development, team building and technical skills
  • Develops custom learning solutions that align with organizational goals, using various methods such as e-learning, professional development, team building, and technical skills
  • Facilitates onboarding and orientation programs to enhance new hire integration
  • Facilitates employee engagement, organizational development and change management
  • Supports change management efforts by creating training resources, conducting workshops, and coaching managers on leading through change
  • Partners with other members of HR and business leaders to assess organizational needs and develop strategies for improving employee performance and engagement
  • Designs and implements methods to promote a positive workplace culture and align employees with organizational values and goals
  • Conducts training needs assessments through surveys, interviews and data analysis to identify skill gaps and development needs across the organization
  • Assess and analyzes learning needs, gaps and data
  • Collaborates with managers to understand departmental training requirements and recommends targeted development programs
  • Tracks trends in employee development and makes recommendations for training initiatives that align with business goals
  • Develops methods for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, using feedback, assessments and performance metrics
  • Gathers and analyzes participant feedback to refine and improve training materials and delivery methods
  • Stays current on industry trends and best practices in learning and development to continuously improve programs
  • Provides coaching and guidance to leaders, supporting their professional growth and enhancing their management capabilities
  • Leads and collaborates cross-functional projects that impact organizational development, employee engagement and talent management
  • Collaborates with external vendors and consultants to source additional resources as needed for specialized training
  • Ensures training programs adhere to budget constraints, timelines, and organizational standards
  • Oversees the daily work of the Part-Time Training Assistant to ensure the administration of CEUs, LATI and MLIS, scheduling of HR and non-HR related trainings or meetings, conference and tuition reimbursement and Learning Management System administration

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in human resources or organizational development 
  • Four (4) years experience in delivering and evaluating training courses; two (2) years of which must include experience in planning, assessing, designing, delivering and evaluating a variety of complex training and/or organizational goals; must be human resources related
  • HR certification is a plus
  • Must be willing to obtain certification within two years of employment
  • Strong understanding and proven experience in designing, implementing and facilitating workshops and adult learning principles
  • Knowledge and use of HRIS and LMS software

We have a 14 step pay scale. Internal applicants starting pay varies based on their current step on the salary scale. We also offer, as appropriate, overtime pay, comp. time, and differential pay.
