Schedule:
This is a full time position working 40 hours a week.  All library administrative staff may be required to work evenings, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year as part of the normal work schedule.

Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Cataloging and Processing Manager, plans, manages and coordinates the overall operation of the Processing Department.  Organizes and tracks a high volume of work with multiple deadlines and requirements.  Recruits, develops, manages and evaluates full and part-time processing staff.  Collaborates with the Cataloging and Processing management team to establish and update the department schedules, SharePoint page and other departmental communications. Works in collaboration with other cataloging and processing management team members to develop and implement a customer service model aligned with system level needs and priorities.

Supervision and Development
  • Supervises and manages full and part-time staff.
  • Develops staff strength and coaches to improve performance.
  • Mentors, develops and works closely with the Assistant Processing Supervisor.
  • Sets Performance expectations and goals for all processing staff.
Operations
  • Organizes and plans the high-volume processing workflow.
  • Analyzes problems, performs assessments and adapts existing BCPL practices and accepted processing guidelines to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborates with the Collection Development Support Supervisor to streamline workflows, resolve problems and expedite shared work.
  • Collaborates with the Cataloging and Processing management team to identify department needs and implements changes.
  • Creates and maintains statistical data based on workflow for input on yearly staffing requests and procedural changes within the department.
  • Creates and posts department schedules and manages changes as needed for the Processing department.
  • Generates and submits reports to Fiscal Services, Human Resources and Administrative Offices.
  • Liaises between Cataloging and Processing and the Circulation Managers to gather and compile feedback to implement changes that support library services.
  • Assists with processing and submission of staff timesheets.
  • Must be able to meet scheduling requirements by arriving to work on time and staying until the end of one's shift.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends and be flexible with one's work schedule to meet daily operational requirements.
  • Must have access to transportation, as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, including meetings, events and activities at other branch locations or offsite.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a library with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. and push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, knee, crouch and stretch for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to read small print.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to hold and squeeze a glue bottle for extended periods of time.
**Applicants for this position will remain in consideration for any Processing Supervisor position openings within the next six months and do not need to reapply.**

We have a 14 step pay scale. Internal applicants starting pay varies based on their current step on the salary scale. We also offer, as appropriate, overtime pay, comp. time, and differential pay.
