Schedule:

This position works 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday.


Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Processing Supervisor, the Processor performs technical and clerical work supporting the processing, preparation, and distribution of library materials for system-wide use.  Verifies the accuracy of bibliographic and items records, applies labels and security devices, prepares materials for circulation, and performs quality control activities.  Coordinates assigned processing workflows by organizing task assignments, tracking departmental data, and identifying operational issues requiring supervisory attention.  Maintains inventory and departmental statistics, troubleshoots processing equipment and software, and assists staff with processing-related inquiries.  

 

Materials Processing

  • Process traditional and non-traditional library materials by applying required labels, barcodes, security tags, and protective coverings to ensure proper handling, circulation and tracking.
  • Create spine labels and activate security tags.
  • Sort and organize completed materials for delivery and distribution.

Catalog and Record Support and Maintenance 

  • Use the Intergrated Library System (ILS) to update, maintain and verify the accuracy of item records and to make minor edits to bibliographic records.
  • Investigate and resolve item record discrepancies and physical material issues for system staff, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Assist with departmental opening and closing procedures, including organizing materials, preparing work areas, and resolving misplaced items.

Quality Control and Documentation

  • Provide label corrections and perform quality assurance activities to maintain consistency and accuracy of processed materials.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and updating of processing procedures and documentation to promote efficient and standardized workflows.
  • Coordinate an internal secondary job team at the direction of supervisors, organizing task rotation and data entry.
  • Input, maintain, and track departmental statistics.

Equipment Support and Supply Handling

  • Troubleshoot thermal printer issues and make minor adjustments to labeling software to support processing operations.
  • Repackage audiovisual materials and prepare special orders, and reference materials for circulation.
  • Maintain inventory and coordinate the ordering and replenishment of processing supplies and materials.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in office, customer service or libraries preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

We have a 14 step pay scale. Internal applicants starting pay varies based on their current step on the salary scale. We also offer, as appropriate, overtime pay, comp. time, and differential pay.
